Q1: I get an error when I install the program.

A: If you see either of the two errors below (or usually any kind of error during the install process), you do not have the proper permissions to install the software:

Depending on which version of the software you bought, you need certain permissions in Windows to install the program:

Single-Profile Version: membership in the Power Users or Administrators groups
Multi-Profile Version: membership in the Administrators group

If you are not a member of either groups, or do not know, then ask the main user/owner of that computer to install the software for you or give you the proper permissions.

Q2: I've installed the program, but I do not see the Picture Attachments Wizard toolbar.

For Outlook 2002 or 2003, click the "About Microsoft Office Outlook" item in the "Help" menu, then click the Disabled Items button:

If you see "Picture Attachments Wizard" in the list, select it and click the "Enable" button.

Q3: I still do not see the Picture Attachments Wizard toolbar...

A: Follow these steps:

  • From the Windows Start button, click "All Programs" and then "Run..."
  • Type regedit.exe and click OK
  • Expand the folder hierarchy to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
  • If you do not see a PictureWizard.Connect sub-key, please reinstall the program
  • Otherwise, ensure that the value for the LoadBehavior entry in the PictureWizard.Connect folder is 0x00000003 (3)
  • If it is not, double-click LoadBehavior and change it to 3 and press OK
  • Restart Outlook

Q4: I've upgraded from 1.0 or 1.1.0.2 to version 1.1.0.3 and I now have an extra Picture Attachments Wizard toolbar that does nothing.

A: Follow these steps:

  • Close Outlook
  • Uninstall Picture Attachments Wizard from Add/Remove Programs
  • Open Outlook
  • Choose Tools -> Customize, select the "Picture Attachments Wizard" toolbar and delete it. While still in customize mode, click the Tools menu, then right-click the "Picture Attachments Wizard Settings…" menu item and select Delete
  • Open an e-mail message and do the same thing on the message form: Choose Tools -> Customize, select the "Picture Attachments Wizard" toolbar and delete it
  • Close Outlook
  • Install version 1.1.0.3 or greater
  • Restart Outlook

Q5: I've uninstalled 1.1.0.2 or earlier and there is still a custom Picture Attachments Wizard toolbar.

A: Earlier versions didn't clean up after themselves properly like Mother always taught us to. Follow these steps to make the toolbars go away forever:

  • Choose Tools -> Customize, select the "Picture Attachments Wizard" toolbar and delete it. While still in customize mode, click the Tools menu, then right-click the "Picture Attachments Wizard Settings…" menu item and select Delete
  • Open an e-mail message and do the same thing on the message form: Choose Tools -> Customize, select the "Picture Attachments Wizard" toolbar and delete it

Q6: Will the Picture Attachments Wizard add-in work on Windows Vista?

A: No. A special version is planned that will be supported on Windows Vista but there is no current timeframe for this release.
